Merry Christmas
It’s that time of year again and Santa is bringing a macking swell to the Gold Coast, reports say it could be a 10ft + swell with good winds so there could be conditions like in the images below. I wont be here to shoot the Swell as I will be in Melbourne for Christmas.

Also for all the Dane Reynolds fans out there who are wondering why he will not be surfing on the WCT next year should follow this link to his person site, he has made a statement about why he wont be on tour. It’s a great read and I think we are going to see some amazing surfing from Dane in the following years and good on him I think.

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!!
Sarah’s 30th
On Saturday night I was hired to shoot Sarah’s 30th Birthday party at her penthouse, here are a few shots from the night.
Refreshed and Sore
Had a really refreshing swim down at Coolangatta yesterday, nothing like getting out in the surf to refresh the body and mind. There was a little swell so I thought I would get some empty wave shots, I twisted my neck some how tho so I’m feeling it now.
Thanks for looking.

First empty wave wednesday
I thought that I would start my own photo themes for this site, and as I love waves it was only natural that my first one would be dedicated to them so empty waves wednesday is born.
This empty wave is a secret reef down in victoria, I love this spot it is so photogenic and can get pretty heavy. 16 is all I will say.
Going Home
Soon I will be heading down to Victoria for Christmas, it will be the first one home for me in 5 years and the first Christmas with my family all together. I dont get down there as much as I would like to so i’m really excited to go back.
Family Collage
I recently made a collage of my 2 sons and printed it onto a canvas as a birthday present for my mum, I was pretty happy with the result and may offer it as an option for clients that get family shoots etc.
It’s Monday
Hi every one, It’s Monday and I thought I would do a few photo theme’s while I have a spare moment.
The first one is #MountainMonday curated by +Michael Russell
This is a shot taken at sunset looking over at the Gold Coast Hinterlands. Its a very simple image and I think that is why i like it.
The next one is #MacroMonday curated by +Kerry Murphy, +Jennifer Eden, and +Kelli Seeger Kim.
Macro shots can be pretty cool and give you a different perspective on things, here is a spider with water droplets on it.
One of my favourite themes is #MidairMonday Curator +Jeff Moreau .
This is a shot of Craig Anderson surfing a Dbah on the Gold Coast, I had seen him in surf DVDs and he surfs insanely good and I was stoked to be able to get some shots of him.
Last but not least there is #ActionMonday curated by +Adrian Buturca.
I Love shooting heavy waves and I had seen some really crazy shots from a reef named Deadmans in Sydney, when I was down there once I was lucky enough to be there during a big swell event. This wave in this shot was massive, it was bigger than this before it barrelled and probably one of the biggest waves I have shot.
Thanks for reading and hope you liked my shots
Cheers

Surf Photo Drought
Due to work and Having another baby in June its been a long time since I shot some surf. Cyclones are devastating but if you love waves then you really pray for them, not all cyclones produce good swell but I’m really hoping that this storm season produces some epic swells for the coast.
After watching the Pipe comp it has really made me excited about the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks. It was good to see Kieren Perrow win at Pipe tho and great that he will be back on tour next year.
Here is one of my favourite surf shots from this year, I really love to shoot surf like this.
#ThirstyThursday
Google + is not as big as Facebook yet, but as a photographer it is so much better to use. I hardly use facebook anymore and find myself using Google + now instead.
Photo themes are a great way to show of work and show a variety, I shoot so many different things that it’s good to do all the different themes.
#ThirstyThursday
{Share all things water: seascapes, lakes and rivers are the subject.}
As i have so many water related photos, this one is a great one for me to do, I uploaded a few the other day, here they are.
A New Look
Hi and welcome to my blog.
My site Matt Robertson Photography is pretty old now and out of date so I have decided to use a blog for the time being till I can update it with a new fresh look.
I will try to update it as much as I can and will be new work and some old work up, I am a big user of Google+ and there are some cool photo themes on their that I like to do so I will put them on here as I do them.
My work ranges from Landscapse to photos of my kids and everything In between, people might know me as a surf photographer but that is just a small part of what I do.
Hope you enjoy my work.
Cheers
Matt
